Ulrich Remigious Hengge

He was born on August 6, 1963, in Germany. Dr. Hengge is graduated of Medicine, Specialist in Dermatology and Venereal Diseases, PhD in Molecular Biology and Gene Therapy, Professor of the Department of Dematology and Venereal Diseases at the University of Heinrich-Heine, Düsseldorf, Germany. Dr. Hengge is President of the German Society of Gene Therapy and of the Joachim Kuhlmann AIDS Foundation. He develops his main activity as Head of Department of Skin Cancer Research, Department of Dermatology, University of Düsseldorf. Along his professional career he has published more than 122 articles in high impact scientific journals (10 of them with Cuban researchers), has been editor of 7 books (2 of them with Cuban researchers). He is Member of 16 international and German Scientific Societies, among which are: American Society of Gene Therapy, European Immunomodulation Interest Group against Viral Diseases, European Society of Dermatological Research, European Society of Gene Therapy, European Wound Healing Society, New York Academy of Sciences, Society for Investigative Dermatology. Dr. Hengge has took part, as invited professor, in several Master Degree Courses of the “Pedro Kourí” Institute of Tropical Medicine of Cuba, and has been tutor of 6 postdoctoral students’ thesis, 6 medicine doctors and 8 doctoral students. Dr. Hengge is Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences of Cuba since February, 2008.
