She is Doctor in Philosophy and Arts and Full Professor. Currently she works as Executive Secretary of the Academy of Sciences of Cuba. Rivero Alvisa is also Academic of Merit of the Academy of Sciences of Cuba (ACC); President of the Economic Society of Friends of the Country (SEAP); Member of the National Union of Historians of Cuba (UNHIC); founder and Member of the Latin American and the Caribbean Association of Historians; Member of the Editorial Board of the Cuban Journal of Social Sciences; Member of the Editorial Board of “Debates Americanos” journal; Member of the Advisory Council (Cuban Institute of Book); Member of the National Group of Collaborators (World Economy Research Center of Cuba); President of the Technical Advisory Council (Cuban Republic Permanent Exposition – EXPOCUBA); Member of the Advisory Council (Women Professorship, Federation of Cuban Women). Along her professional career Rivero Alvisa has published 1 book and more than 20 papers in national and international journals; has taken part in more than 150 national and international scientific meetings, workshops and conferences; and has given lectures in several national and international universities. Because of the excellence of her scientific work she has been granted with the National Award of Education (1967, Cuba) and “Carlos J. Finlay” Order (Cuba); among others.
