1/12/2010Council of State of China honors a Cuban scientistThe Council of State of China granted the Cuban doctor Agustín Lage, the 2009 International Prize of Cooperation in Science and Technology, for his contribution to the development of the bilateral collaboration in biotechnology.
Lage received the annual recognition directly from the president Hu Jintao in a ceremony carried out in the Great Palace of People in Beijing, to which attended other Chinese high leaders, including Wen Jiabao.
In declarations to Latin Press, the prestigious researcher and member of the Academy of Sciences of Cuba, stated that this distinction is a prize to the work of his country in this sector, and that because of the closeness to the Day of the Cuban Science (January 15), it is a tribute to all people that are related to science in Cuba.
The Cuban ambassador Carlos Miguel Pereira also attended this ceremony, which took place before a meeting that the seven prize winners foreign scientists had with Liu Yandong, State Counselor.
